Yes we have flashplayer-plugin that for me doesnt work and yes we 
have had alternatives. If your flash player isnt working after a fresh ubuntu 14.10 install then try this link apt://pepperflashplugin-nonfree
Or do a search in software centre or pepper flash plugin
once installed try this link

This should give you your version of flash along with a pretty animated image, along with the ability to play youtube videos and other flash required web based apps…
